Japanese-Inspired Wrapped Shoes

'Vibram' Created a Sneaker That Uses an Old Japanese Material

Sneakers have become ingrained into pop culture and one designer took on a Japanese influence to use a 500-year-old technique to create these wrapped shoes.

'Vibram' used a Japanese material that's been used in their culture for wrapping various other things, but never footwear. The 'Furoshiki' cloth has been turned into designer sport footwear. The 'Furoshiki Shoe' blends elements of Japanese culture such as the cloth's functionality and 75 years of design experience from the Italian shoe designer to create a dynamic sneaker.

Using the cloth to create an innovative sole, the shoe is capable of adapting to the surface that it is used against. The material is extremely comfortable and durable, making it the perfect shoe for any casual situation. The shoe comes in five different, very unique colorways: aqua marina, black, jeans, pearls and violet.
