The most expensive experiment in the world, the LHC costing a staggering $6.6 billion, that aims to reveal what happened immediately after the big bang has suffered a serious fault. One tonne of liquid helium flooded the experiment after developing a fault in a unit designed to super cool the particle accelerators magnets. The set back will mean a repair time of about two months and add a significant amount to the already costly experiment.
