Commuter Healthcare Sessions

Toronto Eyes on Diabetes is Raising Awareness for World Diabetes Day

In honor of World Diabetes Day 2016, the organization 'Toronto Eyes on Diabetes' is hosting an informational session that aims to target commuters on their way to and from work. With a significant number of people unknowingly living with diabetes, this session aims to help spread awareness about the disease.

On November 14th, 2016, Toronto Eyes on Diabetes will set up a post at Union Station to educate consumers about diabetes and the risks of developing the disease. There will be registered nurses, professional dietitians and other healthcare providers on hand to answer questions and to offer free blood sugar testing. The event will also include some more interactive activities such as a virtual experience that lets consumers "'see' what it feels like to experience the complications of diabetes," free Zumba classes and a selfie booth for raising awareness online.

The World Diabetes Day event ultimately helps to spread awareness by making information more accessible for busy Torontonians.
