These Nendo Wooden Tables are Colored with Crayons

Colored by hand, this collection of wooden tables by Nendo design studio is exquisitely colorful.

Made using cypress planks, the wood is left unfinished with its very grainy texture still intact. It is then coated in a layer of smooth white paper that seals in the rough bark but allows the grit to still be felt. Artists used pencil crayons and a light rubbing technique to cover the entire collection of tables with pastel colors that show the texture lying underneath, looking like the wood itself has been colored.

With the smooth feel of paper and the rough look of wood, these furnishings are surreal, covering a spectrum of colors that seem to bleed into each other. The result is a unified series of wooden tables that can be mixed and matched.
