Alessandro Michele, the creative director who was behind the 2017 Spring/Summer women's Gucci selection, presented his eccentric pieces in a way that made models look like they were ready to attend a dream world's royal ball.
He explains his creations by saying "The clothes tell a story steeped in wonder, phantasmagoria and unorthodoxy," and, "Such stories don’t mimetically represent reality. They rather act as magic lanterns, as distorting mirrors, altering languages, signs and consolidated codes."
While the majority of the clothing is overtly decadent in appearance, a selection of the women's Gucci collection shows models wearing boyish business wear that takes them back to the 1970s. In a few others, they're shown in elaborate ruffled dresses that date back much further.
