Artist Victoria Siemer, otherwise known as Witchoria, distorts reality with her new graphic design project. She manipulates spaces by adding an element of the geometric into natural landscapes. The result is a fragmented representation that definitely merits a closer inspection.
It's hard to distinguish between the natural elements (consisting of mountains, oceans, rivers and trees) and Witchoria's own graphic additions. The extra layers add dimension and form to what would otherwise be a static, passive image.
The types of landscape Witchoria uses -- often grim, downcast and gloomy -- stir an emotional reaction or awareness that bubbles to the surface. The altered environments remind us that we have little tactile control of the world we live in.
