Following a trip to Canada's Peller Estate vineyards in Niagara and being inspired by the picking of grapes of night in low temperatures for the creation of icewine, Glenfiddich malt master Brian Kinsman started to create 'Winter Storm.'
Winter Storm is a new addition to Glenfiddich's Experimental Series and takes the form of a single malt whisky that is finished in French oak icewine casks. As a result, the taste of Winter Storm is said to have "tropical fruit and underlying wine notes" with the "warming soul of whisky and the frozen cold of icewine."
Glenfiddich's Winter Storm is set to be sold in a ceramic bottle and will be released in two limited batches. True to its Experimental Series, this one offers a unique exploration of the way different factors can augment the taste of a whisky.
