Wine Cork Portraits by Scott Gundersen illustrates faces with corks

For those who enjoy a glass or two of plonk—otherwise known as wine, dont throw away those corks Scott Gundersen has introduced the world to wine cork portraits. Wine cork portraits are a series of larger than life beautifully detailled portraits composed soley from those handy wooden wine stoppers.

These wine cork portraits are tediously made using a specific pattern Scott has developed. The method he uses is to select a candidate for the portrait, photograph them, draw the photograph onto a very large canvas, then fill it in with the according wine corks. The process seems very detailed and showcases Scotts talent across a variety of art forms, as well as his patience and eye for detail. The shadowing and other elements are comprised from differently colored wine corks which give the pieces depth.

The next time you’re washing down some wine and cheese, raise a glass to Scott and his wine cork portraits.
