'Windstalks' Harvest Kinetic Energy From the Wind

Eco-conscious Windstalks harvest kinetic energy from the wind with a series of 1203 kinetic energy-generating “stalks” that use piezeoelectric discs and electrodes to collect electrical current.

Designed for Abu Dhabi's Masdar city as part of the Land Art Generator competition, the Windstalks project was inspired by wheat fields that blow in the wind. Unlike wind turbines, Windstalks harvest kinetic energy from the wind with graceful beauty and silence. Check the gallery for images.
