Portable Wind Turbines

The Windpax Wind Turbine System Can Be Carried Around in a Backpack

Windpax is a completely collapsible and portable wind turbine system that can be carried around in a large backpack. The Windpax turbine is capable of generating electricity in situations where solar charging units might not perform too well, such as at night or on cloudy days.

The Windpax does however require wind to work. The system uses vertical turbines to spin its blades, causing an internal generator to create power. This power can be used to juice up mobile phones and other devices with USB charging capability.

There are two versions of the Windpax wind turbine system. The compact Wisp system can generate 25 Watts under average wind speeds, enough power to juice up six mobile phones simultaneously. The larger Breeze system can generate 100 Watts under average wind conditions. The Breeze is designed for longer-term outings.
