Self-Cooking Smart Appliances

Whirlpool and Yummly 2.0 Team Up to Make Food Prep Easier Than Ever

Whirlpool and Yummly 2.0 have teamed up to make food prep easier than ever before, thanks to a set of smart appliances that are app-connected to cook users' meals for them. After acquiring the Yummly app a few months ago, appliance maker Whirlpool announced new plans for its connected kitchen range at CES 2018.

In addition to being compatible with Amazon's Alexa home assistant, Whirlpool's appliances will soon be even more intuitive with app integration technology. The company's products will use their existing scan-to-cook features -- "allowing users to scan the barcode of frozen meal as an example in order to adjust cooking times and temperatures automatically" -- in conjunction with Yummly's database of recipes, and tutorials.

The result aims to be a new revolution in smart ovens and microwaves which hope to cut food prep time in half while ensuring a delicious end result.
