Werner Kranwetvogel Captured the Performance of North Korea

The photographer Werner Kranwetvogel had the opportunity to photograph the stunning performance of the 'Mass Games' in North Korea. Composed of thousands of performers, these images are created by color coordination, timely movements and colored cards. The human installation is done in a large stadium where there is enough room to develop all sort of shapes and backgrounds.

Divided into two sections, Mass Games is formed by a group of dressed-up artists located on the floor and another group seated with cards in the spectators' place. In this way, a complete display of images and color comes to life. The result is mind-blowing, and it shows the enormous amount of effort and organization put forward to make it work.

Werner Kranwetvogel is fascinated by the Mass Games, which is why he has created a couple of series that were collected in his book called 'A Night in Pyongyang.'
