The Well Well Well Hotel in Beijing got a set of stunning renovations designed by Fon Studio that take after the traditional architecture of the building. The hotel, which its open courtyard defines, is built within a hutong–a kind of historic alleyway that hosts single-story houses. The revamp of the hotel features terrazzo, wood, and red steel to offset the classic wooden and dark brick features. Together, these materials make the hotel look equal parts moody and modern.
The Well Well Well Hotel has a rich, refined character developed through its aged history. The wooden roof–mostly untouched by the renovations–imbues the space with an elegant sense of antiquity. The renovations introduced remodels of the doors and window frames that look rustic and traditional, taking after the hutong's original architecture. With its redesign, The Well Well Well Hotel has plenty of places for guests to sit down and socialize or find some peace and quiet.
