WD-40's Halloween App Makes Doors Creak

This Halloween, WD-40 is doing something that would be anathema for the brand any other day of the year: it's making doors creak.

Though the multi-use product is known for its nigh on miraculous ability to fix creaks around the house, a silent door simply isn't in touch with the spirit of Halloween. As such, WD-40 is offering a free app, called 'Haunted Door,' that can turn doors with liberal WD-40 application into creepy, creaking props.

The Haunted Door app uses the technology latent in all smartphones to activate its suite of creaking sound effects. Users simply download the app, select their favorite creak from the sound effects in the app, and hang their phone from the inside door handle (for example, in a sturdy grocery bag.) The app will then sense when the door is opened and make the Halloween-y noise.
