These Waterproof Jackets Feature an Entirely Eco-Friendly Design

Sportswear clothing company Columbia created a line of waterproof jackets that eliminate the harmful use of PFCs -- otherwise known as perflourinated compounds that are used in most rain-ready clothing. The brand sought to cut back its use on PFCs upon realizing the harmful impact it can have on the environment since the material is not biodegradable and has been accumulating. With this in mind, Columbia created the OutDry Extreme ECO Shell waterproof jackets.

The jackets feature a breathable design that has a rubber-like finish and made from 100% recycled materials. This includes the use of approximately 20 reused water bottles. As a part of its environmentally friendly design, the OutDry Extreme ECO Shell is only available in white as this eliminates the massive water use that garment dying demands.
