Tomato Melon Margaritas

This Tomato and Watermelon Margarita Breaks From Conventional Citrus

This unusual tomato and watermelon margarita makes a red and refreshing summertime cocktail. Created by Brandon Matzek from the food blog Kitchen Konfidence, the Watermelon Tomato Margarita recipe is a new take on a classic mixed drink.

Traditionally, a margarita beverage consists of tequila, triple sec and lemon or lime with a salt rim. This watermelon margarita version consists of a melon and tomato juice, tequila, lime juice, simple syrup and kosher salt with a sprig of basil for garnish. The tomato and watermelon combine in a way that is fresh, juice, sweet and tart. This is a far cry from the typical tomato libation, Bloody Marys or caesars.

This summery refreshment is ideal for celebrating Canada Day or the 4th of July.
