Skylines By U.S. Military Photographers In The Field

Memorial Day commemorates United States men and women who died while in the military service, from soldiers to doctors to journalists to photographers. For a change, instead of showing the brutality of war, I’ve chosen a set of images shot by great U.S. military photographers in the field.

These photos of sunsets and sunrises were mostly shot in Iraq and Afghanistan. They offer a more subtle look at the army, thanks to beautiful, natural lighting. These images offer a peaceful visual in the middle of war.

This Memorial Day, let’s not forget about the brave and honorable men and women who died serving our country.
