The Iraqi performance artist and assistant professor of photography at NYU has gone through with the promised procedure -- behold the Wafaa Bilal Head-Implanted Camera. Surgically embedded into his skull, the lens will be snapping one photo each minute, 24 hours a day, and streaming them live at the Arab Museum of Modern Art in Qatar for an entire year.
Bilal is "interested in the corners of our life we don't pay attention to." The Wafaa Bilal Head-Implanted Camera project called "The 3rd I" has ignited the photographer's inquisitiveness, stating that "an artist is a mirror reflecting the social condition -- do we really have privacy these days? How many times are images taken each day without our knowledge."
