Spiritual Expedition Editorials

Anna De Rijk Finds Herself in the Vogue Netherlands May 2014 Issue

Much like Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray, Love, ‘The Moon and The Earth’ editorial for Vogue Netherlands’ May 2014 issue features Anna De Rijk on a spiritual, South Asia pilgrimage. Dressed in a mixture of flowing, colonial garb and kimono-inspired pieces, Rijk attempts to navigate her new surroundings.

Rijk is straight-faced and impassive throughout the editorial, leaving the reader wondering what is going on beneath the surface. The editorial weaves an interesting narrative, as we see Rijk absorb and adopt to the practices of a foreign land. The editorial has a melancholy, almost doleful vibe; however, it is not without hope.

The creative team responsible for putting the spread together consisted of editor Martien Mellema, hair stylist Daan Kneppers, makeup artist Kathinka Gernant and photographer Bharat Sikka.
