The VocaliD platform is giving users a new way to express themselves. While there have been robots and gadgets that have helped people project and speak better it has always come with a cold, mechanical tone, VocaliD is humanizing it.
The platform will allow people to donate their voice for use by those that don’t have one themselves. Users go through a questionnaire where they pick the voice of someone with similar characteristics as them such as: age, sex and similar voice inflection. After that the user goes through a long number of sample sentences.
Altogether this process allows the user to have a distinct voice complete with very real tones and a humanized presence. VocaliD is allowing those with a disability to finally sound the way they want.
