Read My World is a new Microsoft vocabulary app. The app was designed to help users learn a language by increasing their vocabulary with objects and text around them. Read My World immerses users in a language by using everyday objects and text in a person's environment. The app functions by using a cellphone camera pointed at either an object or text, then the app tells the user the word and the definition. Read My World uses Microsoft Cognitive Services as well as Computer Vision APIs to figure out what the object or written text is and presents the user with the information.
The app also features games that users can play to practice their new vocabulary. The app has 15,000 words that users can learn. The 15,000 words push to upper limits that new speakers are able to learn. Microsoft is currently running tests on its vocabulary app.
