Virry VR Lets Users Get Up Close with African Animals

Most people won't ever get the chance to experience the tremendous wildlife in the African savanna in person, but with Virry VR, anyone with a Playstation VR headset will be able to do so vicariously. The new virtual reality experience offers footage of various animals up close, with the intention of both providing a thrill and teaching users about the endangered wildlife around Africa.

Virry VR includes 35 minutes of 4K 360 degree footage that cover six different species: zebras, green monkeys, elephants, rhinos, hyenas, and lions. Each of the animals' footage includes a small degree of narrative control — things like choosing whether to feed animals or other ways to engage with them.

The VR footage was taken at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya. Users can opt to purchase the 35 minutes of footage, and they can also subscribe to a live camera feed from the conservancy for a small monthly fee.
