The Vik Armchair Has Been Bent into Shape from a Stiff Flat Sheet

It's interesting to see how Christian Zanzotti's Vik Armchair has been formed. Where it might have been made by means of assembling separate metal panels together, this piece was largely sculpted through the folding of a few large sheets.

You can appreciate the way that the armrests crease over to offer the body additional support, and how the same components extend downwards to touch the floor and bear the weight of the furnishing. The seat section rises from the bottom to produce a flat plane and a smaller panel serves as a backrest. Both of these have been lightly upholstered. The individual parts are fixed together firmly with bolts, and the entire Vik Armchair is finished in black for a minimalist modern look.
