Google has unveiled a new feature that allows for USB iPhone tethering on Chrome OS. Previously, iPhone users had to share internet connectivity through a hotspot with a Chrome OS device. However, mobile hotspots would use the battery at a much faster rate than USB iPhone tethering would. The new feature would allow cross compatibility between devices in a way that would be far more battery efficient for users.
In the past, Chrome OS devices would simply treat any iPhone USB connection as a USB device, which means it is not able to use Ethernet functions.
Battery connection is more efficient due to the fact that this method provides a hardwired connection to the mobile device, this allows for a more direct power source. Hardwired connections also offer a more reliable connection.
