Twisting Security Thumbdrives

The Ur'SB Contorts Like a Turning Key to Unlock Your Private Files

A flash drive can be easily misplaced and picked up by somebody else -- a consideration that was taken seriously throughout the design of the Ur'SB. While some USB sticks require passwords to access contents on computers, Kibbum Park toyed with another, more intuitive, method.

While thinking about the notion of unlocking a door, a safe or a diary, the designer was influenced by the act of turning a key. It's for this reason that this particular data storage device would be given extra length, enabling it to incorporate an exaggerated twisting mechanism. Beneath the flexible silicone skin would be a tab at the end and a little post that would connect to the storage component. After plugging in the Ur'SB USB key, you could literally turn on and off the access to private folders and information.
