Considering the abundance of vending machines in urban centers (see below), it seems it was only a matter of time before someone extended the potential of the devices... only it's a little peculiar that these dispensing machines inspired a costume.
Japanese designer, Aya Tsukioka invented an outfit resembling a vending machine that acts as a disguise for metropolitan dwellers dodging the eyes of other critical urbanites.
The concept originated due to an extreme fear by the Japanese for safety and paranoia of being attacked. Tsukioka "created a skirt that unfolds to become a realistic looking vending machine, to hide from would-be attackers," Kitsuneoir said. "She's also created a backpack that looks like a Japanese fire hydrant for children to hide behind, as well."
The Japanese aren't fighters, and choose to avoid conflicts rather than confront them. The New York Times wrote an interesting article on this aspect of the Japanese mentality, which adds a lot of credibility to the costume concept.
It would work though considering how many vending machines there are out there. Just cross your fingers that no one tries to dispense any nail art from your body:
