At first, the Upside Down Ceiling Fan looks more like a mischievous kid's prank on his parents. The title of the fan refers to the upside down state of the legendary Hughes/MD 500 complete with a helipad, which acts as the base for the fan, allowing the propellers to cleverly become the fan's blades.
Created by Catania-born, Milan-based industrial designer Raffaele Iannello, who gifted the world with the Voodoo Knife Holder, the Upside Down Ceiling Fan pays tribute to the out-of-production model. Made out of fiberglass with carbon fiber blades and an aluminum internal structure, it is equipped with a three speed motor that is remote controllable. The Upside Down Ceiling Fan is available in one colorway: shiny black with a silver base.
