Upcycled Plastic Bag Furniture

This Company Creates Furniture Out of Woven Plastic Bags

In an effort to make a positive impact on the world, Reform Studio's designers Mariam Hazem and Hen Riad created a material out of upcycled plastic bags.

The material, called Plastex, is an eco-friendly textile that is made by turning plastic bags into threads that are then manually woven. The material is said to be highly durable and resistant to sand and dust. Reform studio has six locations in which it sells its upcycled plastic bag furniture -- which itself is beautiful, colorful and functional. In addition to reducing waste in the world, 70% of the studio's employees in its upcycling workshop are women and its also employs untrained workers.

Doing something good for people and the environment by way of art and function makes Reform Studio a standout in the design world.
