Illuminated Plastic Bag Trees

Luzinterruptus' Upcycled Christmas Tree is Made from Shopping Bags

When they're not carrying items home from the store, plastic bags can be nuisances that are just littering the streets, but this year, art collective Luzinterruptus put them to use and crafted an upcycled Christmas tree from them.

Luzinterruptus asked people to trade in their plastic bags for cloth ones and recieved over 4,000 bags in total. For the tree, 3,000 colorful plastic bags were used and the excess were strung as garland. The Christmas tree and garlands were illuminated and made quite an interesting installation in Durham, England.

Luzinterruptus' tree serves to remind people to be conscious when they shop and bring a reusable cloth bag to the store, since before and after Christmas is a time when the use of plastic bags dramatically increases, even though it is incredibly wasteful.
