Blurry Blotted Illustrations

Charles Williams's Uniqlo Portraits are Captivating and Creepy

These Uniqlo Portraits are equal parts captivating and creepy. A unique form of graphic design and illustration, it takes the popular pixelated portrait and gives it a more blotted, blurry look that almost makes these individuals look like burn victims, hence the creepy factor. Yet, these portraits can also be likened to the many collages that have also been popping up on blogs more and more lately.

Created by London-based illustrator Charles Williams, the Uniqlo Portraits were commissioned by the fashion house for their 2011 brand book. Each portrait depicts five Japanese craftsmen currently employed by Uniqlo (Takumi Asano, Takumi Takahashi, Takumi Tokuoka, Takumi Furukawa and Takumi Taka).

The Uniqlo Portraits will surely inspire similar digital art in the near future.
