Undulating Skyscraper Designs

This Skyscraper's Elegant Facade Also Protects From Crushing Winds

World-renowned architecture firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, better known as SOM, has unveiled an extraordinarily futuristic skyscraper design that aims to capture the attention of residents of Hangzhou, China by virtue of its unique, undulating design.

The Hangzhou Wangchao Center will feature a glass-sheathed facade that doesn't just look elegantly modern, but is also designed to offset some of the damage that can be caused by winds that can threaten skyscrapers as tall as this one, set to be close to 300 meters tall. Another highlight will be the inclusion of a special viewing lobby located over 200 meters high, and promising gobsmacking views of the city.

This building, which will include hotel, shopping and office spaces, exemplifies the importance of modern skyscraper design being informed by both aesthetics and safety.
