Oskar Zięta created the Ultraleggera 1660 in response to the lightweight challenge set by Gio Ponti’s the Superleggera chair from 1957. The Ultraleggera 1660 gets its name from the fact that it's the lightest chair in the world, weighing in at just 1,660 grams.
The durable chair is made with FiDU technology and a laser-cut seat plus a backrest. Despite being incredibly lightweight itself, the chair is strong and capable of handling loads of up to 1,208 kg. According to Zięta, the chair takes inspiration from the "delicate but extremely strong wings of dragonflies, durable chitinous shells of beetles or light and stable pneumatic bird skeletons."
Beyond being impressive for its lightweight design, the chair is a mono-object that's fully recyclable.
