To celebrate Easter 2016, The Ukrainian Museum in New York City is hosting a workshop that teaches participants how to make Ukrainian pysanky. Pysanky are a form of Easter eggs decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs made using wax resist. This workshop teaches participants how to decorate eggs using this method for a unique take on the tradition of painting eggs.
The workshop will be held throughout the month of March and it will be open to both children and adults. Instead of simply using paint to decorate their eggs, participants will be taught how to use different dyes, beeswax and styluses to create traditional Ukrainian designs. There is even an advanced class available for those who are well versed in the making of Ukrainian pysanky.
The workshop ultimately provides an engaging way for families to celebrate Easter while learning about Ukrainian culture at the same time.
