Guest Star Rooftop Performances

Fallon Kicked Off His First Show with a U2 Rooftop Performance

Monday night marked the long awaited appearance of TV personal Jimmy Fallon as the new host on The Tonight Show; along with a crowd of A-list celebrity friends to cheer him on, Fallon also set the precedent of late-night television entertainment with a U2 rooftop performance.

The Irish band performed two songs, the first was an acoustic (in-studio) version of Ordinary Love which seemed to to have the guests well entertained. Their second performance was on the roof of the Rockefeller Center, against the backdrop of a chilly New York City skyline. U2 sang its new single ‘Invisible’ to a small, tightly snug audience, complete with a four piece marching band behind them.

In typical U2 fashion, the performance was energetic and dynamic thanks to Bono crooning with his distinctive vocals. Though Jimmy Fallon’s premier on The Tonight Show had a lot of memorable moments, the U2 rooftop performance set the standard for future artists to come.
