Retro-Modern Hipster Dandywear

The U-NI-TY Fall 2011 Lookbook is a Blast from the Past

The U-NI-TY Fall 2011 lookbook is a blast from the past. Photographer Philipp Hohndorf captured bearded model Ferdi Sibbel in contemporary menswear that channels eras past. Stylist David Duval had an array of retro-modern separates to play with, from knitted vests and patchwork blazers to military-inspired button-down shirts, corduroy jackets and drop-crotch trousers.

The loose fashion in the U-NI-TY Fall 2011 is dapper yet laid-back; more generous cuts allow for easy movement and avoid the too-tight outfits seen elsewhere in menswear. Designer JP Gassa blended a variety of timeless cues with modern techniques, in effect creating a military uniform for civilians.

My favorite shot from the U-NI-TY Fall 2011 lookbook is the first one above, in which Ferdi Sibbel rocks a modern hipster reinterpretation of a dandy's four-piece outfit.
