Lightweight Convertible Cars

This Two-Seater Convertible Was Developed By the Abarth Racing Team

Italian automaker Fiat has unveiled the Abarth 124 Spider, a brand new and even more speedy version of the original Fiat 124 Spider two-seater convertible originally developed by the Abarth Racing Team.

This particular vehicle comes powered by a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo Petrol engine that is capable of pumping out as much as 140 horsepower as well as 177 pounds-feet of torque. This setup enables the vehicle to zoom along from zero to 100 km/h in an impressive 7.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 216 km/h. The vehicle's speed can be partially attributed to the use of lightweight materials, which has resulted in its final weight being only around 1,060 kilograms.

This two-seater convertible shows how intelligent use of lightweight materials can result in greater performance without compromising on design philosophy.
