Japenese studio Takeru Shoji Architects designed the 'OH! house,' a two-bedroom residence located in Niigata, Japan.
The home, which accommodates a family of four, is elevated with wooden stilts. The lower level features a pale timber facade, while the roof is made from a white timber. The roof looks as though it is pulled down over the rest of the house, effectively shading the terraces below and shielding the interior from wandering eyes. The architects describe the roof as a "buffer space" that protects the house.
The architects chose to situate both bedrooms on the ground floor, spacing them so as to give the inhabitants access to the garden located between the inner and outer facades. The living area, then, is moved to the upper level.
