The Tumbleweed Robot by Shlomi Mir Analyses Barren Landscapes

The Tumbleweed Robot is yet another device that hopes to stop, or at least stymy, the threat of climate change and its effects on barren landscapes such as deserts. According to recent statistic, deserts threaten almost one-third of the Earth’s land surface and until now there was nearly nothing the world could do about it. Unleashed in these environments, the Tumbleweed Robot could change that futile outlook.

Designed by Israeli industrial designer Shlomi Mir, the Tumbleweed Robot is a wind-powered, round device that is meant to collect information about the land it covers to transmit back to its home base. What makes the Tumbleweed Robot particularly promising is that it can overcome more obstacles by changing shape or routes as well as avoiding heat stroke. Mir hopes to make it smaller soon.
