Seemingly Stacked Teacups

The Triple Coffee Cup Has the Appearance and Capacity of Several Mugs

Don't be afraid to fill the Triple Coffee Cup up to the brim, for as precarious as it appears, the drinking vessel will not topple over. Designer Esben Oxholm Bonde of Denmark has playfully dreamed up this illusory demitasse that can actually hold an impressively great volume.

The interior of the coffee mug might be smooth and consistent but the outside has been sculpted to take the look of three stacked tea cups. It seems as though they have been piled one on top of the other, tilting slightly to accommodate their curved handles. Close observation of the Triple Coffee Cup will, however, reveal a seamless transition between one supposed vessel and another, but a still surprising inner depth if the mug is resting empty.
