Urban Skyfarm by Studio Aprilli Conceptualizes Vertical Farming in Korea

When it comes to vertical farming, this tree-shaped skyscraper is the stuff of the future. A futuristic take on nature and natural processes, it brings the promise of a breath of fresh air to city centers. In particular, Seoul, South Korea. Conceptualized for the Asian capital, the tree-shaped skyscraper was designed by Aprilli, a studio based in Brooklyn, New York.

Dubbed the Urban Skyfarm, the tree-shaped skyscraper is made up of lightweight decks that can grow more than 5,000 fruit trees and plants. Not only would it support local food production, it would also benefit overall environmental quality by way of water and air filtration. The tree-shaped skyscraper is divided into four major components: the root, trunk, branch and leaves.
