Tranquil Mid-Century Homes

OWIU Revamps the Interior of a 1950s House, Located in Los Angeles

California studio OWIU was tasked with revamping the interior of a house from the 1950s and this resulted in a chic and tranquil mid-century home for the clients to enjoy. In the contemporary moment, when the mid-century modern aesthetic is sought after by many design-minded individuals, this dwelling is cutting-edge.

The architecture studio drew inspiration from traditional Japanese inns to facilitate the atmosphere of the tranquil mid-century home. Inside, striking and sculptural furniture creates subtle accents throughout. The color palette is made up of earthy colors—terracotta and beige, for instance—so that the residence boasts "an organic feel." For the exterior, OWIU aimed to facilitate a timeless backdrop with smooth, tan stucco.

In order to create the ultimate and authentic tranquil mid-century home Jullie Nguyen, a vintage collector assisted in the project.
