Annual Tech Breakthrough Infographics

This Chart Breaks Down 2012's Top Engineering Achievements

Aside from the general statements made about technology these days, it's nice to look specifically at the top engineering achievements of the year. With an infographic like this, it makes it possible to really take measurements of how far science and technology have come in the last twelve months.

Then again, some of these projects have probably taken more than a year to develop and simply came to fruition in their final stages last year. Nevertheless, there are some interesting breakthroughs. One of the past year's top engineering achievements was by way of Zac Vawter and his mind controlled prosthetic leg. Prosthetic limbs aren't new, but Zac climbed 103 floors on his leg.

And then there was Mars. In 2012, one of the biggest achievements for engineering was landing Curiosity safely on the surface of Mars.
