Germany's verdict has switched to 'ja' when it comes to Tom Cruise. The actor's latest role in the movie, Valkyrie, is as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, the man who was executed after planning Adolf Hitler's assassination in 1944. Germany was afraid the film would shed a bad light on the country and had initially asked that filming not take place at the official execution site. Producers were able to sway them to change their minds however after they "were convinced the film would portray post-war Germany in a good light," the BBC reported.
"Thomas Raabe said it appeared the movie would underline the fact that 'barbarism did not win, but rather a democratic Germany finally arose'.
