The Tobias Wong Portrait is a Meticulously Crafted Masterpiece

This portrait is no gamble! The Tobias Wong portrait is made of 13,138 dice -- an homage to the famed artist's passing at the young age of 35, or more specifically, 13,138 days.

Created by friend and fellow artist Fredrick McSwain, the meticulously crafted masterpiece is part of the BrokenOff BrokenOff exhibition at the Gallery R'Pure in New York. The exhibition is inspired by the life and work of Wong. According to the website, "Nine celebrated New York based designers have come together to interpret and reflect the work of Tobias through their unique and individual design sensibilities."

The die are surprisingly laid free on the floor without adhesive. The detail and vision in this portrait is unmatched, and the original idea is both meaningful, touching and brilliant.

McSwain describes the inspiration behind the portrait, mentioning that "The idea of every decision you make and everything you’ve done in your life, defines who you are. All of those days symbolically makes up the image of Tobi."
