Artist Amy Myers Depicts an Infinite Realm of Possibilities

I was immediately drawn to the works on paper by artist Amy Myers, who works primarily with graphite, conte, gouache and pastels. She is truly fascinated with the infinite possibilities of theoretical physics and strives to give viewers an experience deep inside the inner workings of the universe.

She is the daughter of a physicist and as such, possesses a keen understanding of an exclusively understood scientific language. Her new works are grandiose to say the least (the largest measures 132 x 150 inches), yet they give the viewer an intimate encounter with each piece as they envelop the viewer’s line of sight and create the effect of a physical space to step into.

Up close, the details are extraordinary with an incredible symmetry in her works that starts from the outside and works its way in.

Myers successfully interweaves two realms that rarely seem to coexist in a relevant oeuvre; she dissolves the apparent dichotomy between scientific thought and art. Through these works on paper, scientific concepts are transformed into philosophical notions.
