'The Summer-Land' Series is a Story With a Unique Aesthetic

Liza Corbett has managed to create a chic yet saddening series, entitled ‘The Summer-Land.’

The paintings showcase Corbett’s ability to design a story-telling series. The water color designs follow a Victorian girl and her travels in an unknown world. The girl looks sad while attempting to find a deeper meaning in her life.

Liza Corbett has said of The Summer-Land characters, "They form themselves into affinitive groups, and, harmonizing with the circulating rivers between the different planets, go on protracted journeys through innumerable scenes, and do not return to their pavilions for many years."

Her series includes using graphite, watercolor, gouache and ink to paint out her story on paper. The series is hauntingly beautiful and depicts a deep story and meaning.
