The Split is the World's First Standalone Music Player

The Split is the world's first set of hands-free, standalone earphones that work without any cables or Bluebooth-enabled functions.

Designed by Miami-based Greenwingaudio, the earphone unobtrusively fits into the ears and limits the emission of harmful radio waves by more than 1,000 times as compared to a Bluetooth streaming headset. Comparable in size to a penny, The Split is installed with a small circuit board, a button cell battery, a memory chip, a processor and the necessary components required to play high-quality digital audio, according to The Split's Kickstarter campaign page. The earphone is equipped with a three-axis accelerometer that, when a user bites down with their jaw, detects a vibration signal that changes songs or adjusts the volume. The Split connects to the USB port of a computer to upload songs and for recharging the batteries. To avoid the earphones changing songs repeatedly when chewing gum, for example, the user can tap the right earphone to the lock the player.Photo Credits: designboom, greenwingaudio
