The Revolution Continues at Saatchi Gallery: New Art From China

China is joining Iran and the middle east as the ones to watch on the contemporary art scene. The new interest in Chinese art is largely attributed to art guru Charles Saatchi who is back on the art scene after a few years of absence with grand new gallery in Chelsea in central London that is showcasing some of China’s hottest artists.

"The Revolution Continues: New Art from China" features work from established Chinese artists stars such as Yue Minjun, Zhang Xiaogang and Zeng Fanzhi and newer artists.

The showcased work includes Sun Yuan and Peng Yo’s Old Persons Home, which features 13 old men that resemble world leaders on wheelchairs moving aimlessly around a large basement room. Also worth noting is Liu Wei’s model city which is made from dog chews, and Yue Minjun’s pink laughing men.

The Saatchi Gallery plans to put a show dedicated to contemporary Middle Eastern art from Iran, Iraq, and other new middle eastern artists early next year.
