The Red Box is a Low-Impact Home Addition That Makes a Bold Statement

The Red Box is a 700-square-foot addition by Jeremy Levin that adds a second level to a 1,100-square-foot Los Angeles home.

Built from recycled wood and low life-cycle impact materials, the house makes use of passive cooling and rainwater collection to round out its carbon-friendly footprint. More than anything else, though, the Red Box just simply looks cool. Just like its bluntly accurate name, the structure reflects a design aesthetic that is both straightforward and bold.
