The Green Wheel by DesignLibero is a consumer-ready rendition of the spherical garden designed by NASA in the 80s to grow multiple plants in a small space.
This spherical planter somewhat resembles a hamster wheel with a fixed outer ring surrounding a rotating inner ring that houses a plethora of plants. There are several 'vases' that are built into the inner ring of the system, which hold each plant in place while the structure rotates approximately once per hour. In the mount of the device is a reservoir of water that each plant would pass through as they spin around, and the LED fixture that hangs from the center would provide the plants with the light they need to grow.
This spin cycle method of growing foliage is geared toward apartment residents with little space and those looking to save electricity and water.
